COURSE OVERVIEW

The Post Graduate Certificate in teaching is designed for learners who enjoy teaching Senior Phase and want to complement an existing undergraduate qualification or accredited diploma.  The programme is offered full time and includes an introductory workshop and School Integrated Programme (SIP), where learners will be able to teach in a Secondary School and gain valuable teaching experience.The choice of subjects to be taught can be selected from a prescribed list on registration.

With a post graduate qualification in teaching, you will be equipped with different teaching methodology in a South African context and be able to use this knowledge to plan lessons and enhance the learning experience of your students. You will be qualified with a Post Graduate in Teaching.

Admission Requirements
  • National N Diploma in Educare
  • Bachelor’s Degree or accredited Diploma
  • Where the above is not available, the student may complete a certificate in Certificate in Career Guidance Development Counselling, offered at the College.

The Centre for Student Relations consists of a team of online professional advisers who will provide additional academic support if you struggling, and will also help you adjust to college life; cope with the new environment and study pace and make your academic journey a successful and enjoyable experience.

Further Studies

On successful completion, you will receive a National N Diploma in Hospitality and Catering. You may also further your studies at a University of Technology. You will require a 50% pass in each subject.

Work Integrated Learning, Internships and Employmen

Our Student Support Services Department offers a variety of services to assist you on your journey to employment. It is committed to grooming our students for employment, with job readiness skills, CV writing, interview training and workshops – with the goal of providing ongoing support and assistance to our student population. In addition, our vast industry networks and partnerships will help link students to companies that are seeking specific skills.

In 2017, Berea Technical College launched the 100% Graduate Employment Programme(GEP) as a CSI initiative to help address the high percentage of unemployed youth in the country. The programme aims to assist our students to secure the necessary Work Integrated Learning (WIL) hours and internship in order to receive their qualification and enter the job market.
